Description

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES Second Shift Direct Service Advocate Monday – Friday 3-11p
Qualifications: • A.A. or equivalent education or experience in a human service field. • One year of counseling and direct service experience and familiar with issues of violence against women. • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and telephone. • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Answer hotline as needed • Conduct shelter screenings and intakes as needed • Provide crisis intervention as needed • Help residents become acquainted with shelter and other residents upon arrival • Provide counseling to resident upon arrival and as needed throughout their stay • Conduct groups as required with mothers and/or children and submit programming logs for each group held • Assist with child care as needed • Prepares materials/resources for residents • Engage with residents at meal time and ensure that residents clean up their area prior to leaving dining area • Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the facility and property (including, but not limited to: vacuuming, laundry, loading/unloading groceries, shoveling, raking, mopping) • Assign and ensure completion of evening chores • Assign, assist and monitor residents during dinner time kitchen assistant duties ensuring all tasks are completed thoroughly • Ensures residents are following shelter schedule • Enforces shelter rules and guidelines • Supervises bedtime for children with mothers • Completes all required paperwork and maintain client records • Ensures mothers supervise children • Prepares rooms for residents including washing, drying and putting away linen • Attends weekly staff meetings • Provide transportation to residents and adhere to all safety laws/policies regarding seat belts, car seat requirements and speed limits at all times. • Performs other related duties as needed.
