About Us

Eco-friendly B&B/retreat with expansive views of the Mt Holyoke range.

Environment

  • We have farmed the land here organically for over twenty five years.
  • My B&B only serves food that is fair-trade, organic and we buy more local when possible.
  • All of our supplies are eco friendly i.e. paper products, (bleach free, recycled paper) energy efficient light bulbs, cleaning products and washing detergents are non toxic... biodegradable...
  • All of our promotional materials are on eco-friendly, tree-free papers.

People

  • All of our food purchases are fair-trade.
  • We do not support any farm factories.
  • Encourage all independent guests to buy only organic fair trade coffee and alert them to the local farmers markets.
  • Pay all workers a living wage.

Community

  • Our small gallery (non-profit with other artist work) is a fund raiser for American Friends Service Committee.
  • Use only local business for promotional needs.
  • I shop at local farmers markets.
  • I have Congress on my auto dial ... I call regularly to help keep important local, national, and international issues addressed by our reps.

Animals & Wildlife

  • Our breakfast when served is either vegan or vegetarian.
  • We do not use any products that practice animal testing.
  • We have most of our land in Wildlife conservation... while working with the land always considering the wildlife...
  • Flower Hill is a bird sanctuary... hundreds of birds feast on the native blueberries, and other shrubs that produce wild food.
  • The land is managed to encourage food for wildlife and there is plenty of deer, fox, bobcat, bear, coyote, hawks, owls, wild bees!... and more sharing this paradise with us. Deer leave their young fauns to rest in the gardens during the day.
  • I encourage milkweed and other wild flowers to grow to offer food and host plants for caterpillars and butterflies.

Fruit/vegetable basket is inexpensive and usually mostly organic.

Very nice locally made castile soap. A bit like Dr. Bronner's but not quite as thick.

They have a small but excellent prepared foods section with many macrobiotic and vegan options. The buffalo tofu is the best!
